Life’s Stages

It was Saturday afternoon, and I was home alone.  That my friends NEVER happens!  I hosted a fabulous party that morning, the kids were with my parents, and Handyman Husband had to work.  I sat on the porch swinging for 30 minutes with no interruptions.  Pretty great!  I then started becoming a bit antsy, so I picked up Jon Acuff’s new book “Start” that we received at the Blissdom Conference which you may order HERE!  It officially launched April 21!

Jon has a genius way of describing “Life’s Stages!”  In your…

  • 20’s:  You learn.
  • 30’s:  You edit.
  • 40’s:  You master
  • 50’s:  You harvest.
  • 60’s:  You guide.

I LOVE THIS!  Thanks to Jon, I have been telling everyone this simple yet truthful definition of life’s stages!  Why have I deviated from my usual topics of decorating and family?  Because I am truly “mastering” my life after teaching for 11 years, getting married, having children, being a stay-at-home mom, and now following my dream of starting Jana Hunter Interiors of which I absolutely love!!!  Every time I leave a client’s home, I shut the van door and say, “I LOVE MY JOB!”  I’m fulfilling a dream and making it happen at 41, and you can too!  It’s never too late!  I’ll soon be featuring my daddy who made his dream happen at the age of 61!!!  This new journey is only the beginning, and I thank you for coming along for the ride!

This quote from Jon Acuff convinced me to click the “sign up” button for Blissdom.  It spoke to me.  He was a keynote speaker, and I wanted to learn from someone like Jon.  In this social media world, life can be portrayed as “perfect,” and it can also be intimidating.  But at the end of the day, I decided to embrace the world of social media and take a risk.  Some risks pay off, and some don’t.  Learn from those that don’t and celebrate those that do!  Be authentic, honest, believe in yourself, and the rest will follow!

I would also like to say a big thank you to Sharon Greenthal of the newly launched website Generation Fabulous!  Sharon sat down at my table during breakfast at Blissdom.  She introduced herself and told us about a new website she was launching the next week entitled Generation Fabulous about midlife.  I proceeded to ask, “Define midlife?”  Her answer, “We tend not to define midlife with a specific age, but it probably starts around 40.”  WOW!  40!  That was me!  Whenever I thought of “midlife,” I automatically followed it up with “crisis.”  I am thankful to say this new decade has been fantastic, and this new website is fabulous!

I am also thrilled to announce that I will be blogging for Generation Fabulous about all things related to interior decorating!   So to my faithful friends and to my new friends alike, if you have any decorating dilemmas, please email me.  I look forward to blogging with possible solutions!

Until then…which stage of life are you enjoying?  “START” living now!!!

Enjoy the day!

Jana
