Cowhide Rug

The den is one of the most used rooms in our home.  It’s Handyman Husband’s “room,” but he shares it quite a bit with the kids!  We bought a rug for the den when we first bought our home.  The colors and pattern were perfect; however, it had a woven type weave, and after almost 6 years, it finally bit the dust.  The rug met many, many monster trucks, blocks, two Miniature Dachshunds, trains, puzzles, more monster trucks, boats, and two kids!  So, a new search for the perfect rug began…

IMG_1165And I found it…a cowhide rug!  I have always wanted one!  Honestly, it opens up the room by showing more of the hardwood floors!

IMG_1168The dark brown with a bit of white anchors the room!  Its silhouette also adds a nice touch!  And it’s oh so soft!!!  Handyman Husband was hesitant with our two Miniature Dachshunds, Missy and Molly, but they enjoy it immensely!

IMG_2776Originally, I was looking for a natural type rug such as a sisal or jute to go underneath the cowhide rug.  I still may add a natural rug, but right now, we are enjoying the simplicity of the cowhide rug!

IMG_2771The kids love it…

IMG_2802And this cow has met many trucks and cars and seems to be okay!

Rugs are a simple way to change up a room for a new and updated look!

Enjoy the day!

  • I love a cowhide rug. I would see them when I lived in Birmingham, AL, but not often. However, here in Dallas, TX I see them all the time. They are authentic and therefore they come off to me as being so true. No one added anything to them to make them something other than what they are – I love that. I also have come to love antlers.

    • Hi Patty! Thank you for your kind comment! The cowhide rug is a definite keeper! I love how you said, “it’s authentic!” And I too love antlers! I’ve posted about mine…Charles Faudree’ inspired me!
