Summer Cocktail Contest

So I decided to enter an online contest!  The Adventures of Tartanscot’s Summer Cocktail Contest!  I am a big fan of Scot Meacham Wood, and you will be to (if you’re not already) after you see the grand prize…

HELLO stunning bar cart!  Courtesy of Scot’s blog!  His design is perfection!  And I learned that this custom made beauty was first built here in Arkansas!  I really don’t enter contests, but this particular one tickled my fancy!  Here was my entry:

The Cucumber Gimlet!  My Culinary Club created this fabulous drink a few years ago!  Every time we reminisce about our cocktails, this one always comes to mind!  It’s the perfect companion to a summer day!

1 cucumber, peeled and chopped
2 ounces fresh lime juice (about 2 limes)
2 ounces simple syrup (I simply shake equal parts water and sugar together until sugar is dissolved.)
3 ounces Gin
Muddle chopped cucumber with lime juice in a drink shaker.  Add simple syrup, Gin, and ice.  Shake well, strain, and serve!  Garnish with a slice of fresh cucumber!  Enjoy!

I also thought about this picture to enter…I took tons of pictures but ultimately decided on “less of a background, more of the drink” concept!  Notice the bar tray I talked about HERE!  And my cocktail shaker HERE!

I just opened my email to see that I did not win the bar cart (and the winner chosen randomly entered a cucumber cocktail!); however, this cocktail is still a winner!

Enjoy the day!
