Impromptu Entertaining

Although it’s nice to plan your party with weeks notice, it’s also fun to plan one on the spur of the moment!  My client recently did just this!  She decided to host a casual birthday celebration for her husband with two days to spare.  The venue was their home and dinner would be served outdoors.  She called me to assist, and I went shopping…

IMG_2718These bamboo folding chairs were perfect for this outdoor party!  They have beautiful lines not to mention great texture and will be used inside for extra seating at a game table!  This week cushions are being made in a great geometric fabric!  Looking forward to sharing my client’s den with you…almost complete!

The party was for 15, and the table was set up utilizing the outdoor bench seating!

These fabulous Pottery Barn melamine plates were the inspiration for the party!  My client bought these for their lake house and with 4th of July in mind; however, they were perfect for this party!

IMG_2741The green linen napkins are versatile and add that spiffy color of summer!

IMG_2725And this “table runner” is actually a rectangle tablecloth I folded to create the illusion of a table runner!  It not only added great texture paired with the bamboo chairs but will also be used at their lake house!

IMG_2729We used the same tablecloth as the “table runner” for the round table!  And when your party is spur of the moment, you work with what you have for seating!

And extra seating was still needed!  Loving these bamboo folding chairs!

The flowers were fun and happy yet not fussy and allowed for great conversation!  Along with the summery yellow flowers, I gathered greenery from my client’s lovely garden!

IMG_2722The containers were chicken wire baskets, and I simply added a clear glass vase inside!

IMG_2730When entertaining, all tables must have flowers!  As long as the containers and color coordinate, you may change up the flowers!  These sunflowers were perfect…the epitome of summer and an outdoor  dinner party!

The sunflowers were carried over to the “tucked away” seating!

It was a true joy to help my client with this impromptu party!  At the end of the day, her husband was truly happy and a memory was made!  So, the next time you are pondering whether to entertain or not…do it!  Even if you only have two days!

Enjoy the day!
