New Oil Painting

I began collecting oil paintings a few years ago!  Art is very personal.  It should speak to you in a way that makes you smile.  Its value doesn’t necessarily need to be driven by its price tag or if it’s a “signed” piece.  Handyman Husband and I were recently invited by my client and dear friend, Mary, to UALR’s (University of Arkansas at Little Rock) 6 x 6 Friends of the Arts fundraising event.  The evening was a true treat (thank you to Mother and Daddy for watching the kids)!  Tables and tables were set up with art created by the students for the silent auction…some amazing talent!  We nibbled on delicious food and enjoyed our wine.  There was a grouping of small oil paintings that caught my eye, one in particular…

IMG_5885The subject matter and colors caught my eye!  Although a rather small painting, the size also makes a nice impact!

IMG_5886I adore the texture of the acrylic and oil!

IMG_5888It’s considered a “wrapped canvas” since the artist painted the sides; therefore, a frame is not necessary!

IMG_5892I have yet to find the special spot for this little pretty from the silent auction!  Because of its subject matter, most likely it will find a home in the kitchen.  However, I have a nice collection of paintings in the guest bathroom too!  We soon shall see!

Enjoy the day!

P.S. At this event, I ran into a former student of mine who is now 22!  Mary Katherine is an absolute doll!  It was a true treasure seeing you this night Mary Katherine!!!
