Away in a Manger

It is so very easy to get caught up in the “idea” of Christmas…gifts, parties, Santa, etc.!  And honestly, I would like to start traditions in our home that really relate to the “reason for the season!”  As I mentioned last year, our Nativity is very special.  It is the first Christmas item out of the box, and the last item put back inside the box.  I love how the kids play and play by rearranging the Wise Men and animals…

IMG_6201The entry table this year is very “full,” but I’m enjoying it…especially at night with the Christmas lights on, and the lamp off!  Speaking of the lamp, I just noticed a bulb is out…what is with the lights this year?

IMG_6180Daniel placed the star on top of the manger which I thought was clever!  There is actually a nail at the point of the roof for the star!

IMG_6192I have this rosemary topiary oddly placed (sadly in its original plastic container) on the entry table trying to get a bit of sunlight!  It was actually a prop for the Wildwood Designer Breakfast.  I had it inside the silver punch bowl filled with vintage Christmas ornaments in the dining room.  If you have any suggestions on how to keep this alive, please do tell!  Its needles are turning brown and dropping!

IMG_6204As we are in the midst of the Christmas season, let’s remember “the reason for the season!”

Enjoy the day!

P.S.  A very Happy Anniversary to my dear Handyman Husband!  Although I’m “under the weather” as they say, the sun is shining, and you are definitely rays of sunshine in my life!

  • I am in love with your nativity. Where did you find it? I especially love the Little Drummer Boy, which is also one of my favorite songs. Your decorating is divine.

    Merry CHRISTmas

    • Hi Connie! The Nativity was given to me by my parents years ago (I was in high school) in Dallas. It is not Fontanini but is very similar as the pieces are made in Italy. And Merry CHRISTmas to you too…love that! Thank you for your kind comment!!!
